How to get to Cabarete
An easy destination to get to: Cabarete is just 20 minutes from the Puerta Plata International Airport, POP. This airport has arrivals from many cities from the Americas and Europe. It is only a 90 minute flight from Miami or 3½ hours from NY. The second closest airport is Santiago (STI) which is 75 minutes from Cabarete.

Kitesurfing - After two world cups, Cabarete has definitely put itself and kitesurfing on the map. Considered by many to have the ultimate kiting conditions, Cabarete offers a number of schools to help you learn the most exciting and colorful new sport to hit the water.
Windsurfing - Playing host to an international windsurfing competition for many years, Cabarete is considered to be one of the ten best windsurfing spots in the world. Offering a variety of conditions year round for beginners and experts alike, many windsurfing centers provide rental, storage and lessons for every level.
Surfing - One of the best places to surf and learn how to surf, the beach at Playa Encuentro offers great conditions for boogie boarding, body surfing and surfing. Lessons and rental are available on site.
Mountain Biking - Lush hills and mountain terrain provide a unique biking experience for every level of rider. Iguana Mama takes riders for 1/2 day - overnight trips that include rides through Dominican villages and local cuisine picnic lunches.
Horseback Riding - Gallop down the beach alongside the ocean or ride mountain trails and admire the tropical beauty of Dominican life. Different ranches offer trips and horses suitable for every level of rider.
Snorkeling & Diving - The bay of Sosua, just 20 minutes outside Cabarete, offers clear turquoise waters and reefs with a host of ocean life. Several diving schools in the area offer snorkel rental, diving gear and certification.
Golf - A nine hole course is available for a quick round just a 5 minute drive from Cabarete. For serious golfers, the 18 hole course at Playa Grande is definitely worth the 60 minute trip. The course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, encompasses beautiful ocean views from cliffs on most holes.
